A new roof, done properly from the timbers up

When a roof has reached the end of its life, patching it only delays the inevitable. A full re-roof gives you a weathertight, better-insulated roof that will look after your home for many years to come.

We strip the old covering down to the rafters, check and replace any defective timbers, then install a breathable roofing membrane and new treated battens before laying your chosen slates or tiles. Ridges, hips, valleys and abutments are finished with new leadwork or dry-fix systems as appropriate.

Protecting your home throughout

We work in manageable sections and never leave the roof open to the weather. Sheeting is secured at the end of every day, waste is removed responsibly, and your property is left clean when we hand over.

How long does a new roof take?

A typical terraced or semi-detached house takes around one to two weeks, depending on its size, access, the materials chosen and the weather. We’ll give you a realistic timescale with your quote.

Do I need planning permission to replace my roof?

Replacing a roof like-for-like doesn’t normally need planning permission. If your property is listed or in a conservation area, or you want to change the materials, check with your local council first — we’re happy to advise.

What happens if it rains during the work?

We only open up as much of the roof as we can make watertight the same day, and fix temporary protection in place overnight and whenever the weather turns.

Which is better — slate or tiles?

Both perform well. Natural slate is long-lasting and suits many London period properties, while clay and concrete tiles offer excellent value. We’ll recommend what suits your home and budget.
